About
We believe that the arts are a vital part of children’s education. Arts education helps teach children important skills, i.e., cooperation, public speaking, responsibility, and creativity. The arts also provide a place for kids and teens from diverse backgrounds to work together toward a common goal.
Albany Middle School (AMS) and Albany High School (AHS) produce amazing plays and musicals every year that bring together the community. Unfortunately, these programs have lost some of their support over the years. Fortunately, many students, teachers, administrators, and families have provided their support to ensure that these programs survive and even thrive.
In the summer of 2018, a group of parents started the Albany Performing & Fine Arts Boosters (PFAB), a non-profit organization (501 c.3) to fundraise and volunteer for the theater programs at AMS and AHS.
Similar to but separate from the Albany Athletics Boosters and the Albany Music Fund, Albany PFAB's purpose is to support and invest in the education of the children of Albany, California in underfunded endeavors.
Although PFAB's efforts are initially focused on theater arts at Albany Middle School and Albany High School, we hope to support a variety of performing arts (complementary to the music programs supported by AMF) and fine arts at Albany High, MacGregor High, and Albany Middle School. Interested parents and other community members are invited to work with us to share fundraising efforts for any such programs. This will allow non-profit administrative costs to be shared among all participating arts, and provide for greater support for all aspects of every student's education in the Albany, California schools.
